The modified hinge clamp doesn’t spin with the screw! 

This is the stock screw and hinge clamp that comes in your bike

The stock silver hinge clamp is equally long on both sides.

Meaning that every time you fold your bike the clamp spins with the screw. 

So when folding you would need one hand to hold the clamp, while the other hand screws;

Resulting in extended periods of folding and unfolding.

But the way a Brompton is folded is its most classic characteristic,

These are just but little flaws of design.

Lines A and B are small adjustments made by BIKEfun on the silver hinge clamp,
